Dr. Thomas Parrott offers his patients “all care in one chair,” meaning that he can fulfill every dental need, from routine cleaning to oral surgery and bone grafting, without having to refer patients to other dental professionals. This is beneficial because it eliminates the possibility of chart information getting lost or misinterpreted by a second dentist.
The best way to maintain a healthy and beautiful smile is to schedule regular check-ups and cleanings with Dr. Parrott and his qualified staff. During your first visit to our office, x-rays will be taken so that Dr. Parrott can get a close look at the exact condition of your teeth. Then he can discuss with you any problems that need to be immediately addressed and any cosmetic goals that you might have.

The dental pulp inside your tooth provides sensation and nutrients to the tooth. If it becomes diseased, you may experience severe pain; if left untreated for long enough, the tooth may die and require extraction.
Root canal therapy is the best way to treat damaged dental pulp. During this procedure, Dr. Parrott will access the pulp from the top of the tooth and remove the infected material. After cleaning out the area, he will seal off the tooth so it’s as good as new.
Fortunately, with the advent of modern pain-reduction technology such as IV sedation, the phrase “more painful than a root canal” no longer has any meaning. In fact, the process completely eliminates the intense pain that was caused by the infected pulp. If a toothache is affecting your ability to eat, chew, or sleep, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Parrott today.

Crowns, or caps, may be applied to teeth for several reasons. If decay or injury is severe enough to destabilize the tooth, Dr. Parrott may opt for a crown to strengthen and protect it. Unlike crowns in the past that were made of porcelain-covered metal, today’s crowns are expertly crafted from tooth-colored resin. They are matched to the size and shape of the surrounding teeth, causing them to be nearly indistinguishable.

Because the average human jaw doesn’t have enough room to accommodate wisdom teeth, most people need to have them extracted. Other reasons for tooth extraction might include impacted teeth or decayed teeth. Dr. Parrott is very experienced in this important procedure and makes certain that his patients understand the process completely.
Having concerns or anxieties before tooth extraction is perfectly normal and understandable. If you have been putting off an extraction because you are worried about possible discomfort, contact our office to discuss the option of IV sedation.

It is important to replace missing teeth so that surrounding teeth do not move out of alignment. A bridge, consisting of a false tooth attached on either side by a crown, is one of the most reliable, time-tested methods of replacing missing teeth.
With regular oral care and maintenance, bridges can remain attractive and durable for years.

Dental implants not only serve to replace one or more missing teeth, but also help to prevent bone loss in the jaw. Under normal circumstances, when a tooth is removed or lost, the bone in the jaw directly beneath the tooth begins to resorb into the body. This causes the familiar “shrunken” look that many people develop after they lose several teeth. As bone is resorbed, teeth in the surrounding area may also become loose and fall out.
Dental implants require a two-step process. The first step is to surgically place metal supports directly into the jawbone. After these supports have been given plenty of time to integrate with the surrounding bone (usually three to six months), they will be ready to receive the tooth replacement. All of our implant teeth are expertly crafted by an experienced dental laboratory and are matched to the color, size, and shape of the surrounding teeth.
The biggest advantage to getting dental implants done at the office of Dr. Parrott is that you can enjoy the convenience of having both steps of the procedure completed in one place. Many dentists who advertise dental implants are not oral surgeons; patients have to be referred out to one before they can have their implants completed by their dentist. Dr. Parrott is fully qualified to perform both the support implant surgery and the tooth replacement fitting.

If the teeth in the back of the upper jaw have been missing for some time, there is often insufficient bone for placing an implant. This situation is more common than in other areas of the mouth due to the location of the maxillary sinuses, or air cavities, just above the back molars. Without adequate bone in this area, the support posts for implants protrude into the sinuses and lack stability.
For patients who have this problem, Dr. Parrott can perform a “sinus lift,” in which the membrane that forms the botThomas of the sinus is moved up a bit. This provides room for a bone graft to be placed in such a way that a dental implant will be possible.

Some patients are not good candidates for dental implants due to insufficient bone density or other health complications. Dr. Parrott can restore missing teeth for these patients by using durable partial and full dentures.
As technology in manufacturing and materials has improved over the last several decades, so too has the quality of dentures available to patients. They now look and perform much like natural teeth. For additional sturdiness, it is sometimes possible to use one or two dental implant posts as support for semi-permanent dentures.
No matter what your current dental situation is, Dr. Parrott can help you to restore beauty and health to your smile. If you’d like to replace a missing tooth, or have a whole new set of teeth, contact the practice of Dr. Thomas Parrott today to schedule a consultation.

Dr. Parrott offers orthodontic services to suit nearly everyone’s needs and budget. Traditional bracket braces are a trusted way to align teeth and correct over- and under-bites. Depending on the extent of correction required, treatment time can vary; the average treatment time is about two years. Patients in nearly all age groups can benefit from orthodontics, although it should be noted that adult teeth take a while longer to respond to braces than do the teeth of children and adolescents.
In addition to traditional braces, Dr. Parrott also provides treatment with Invisalign® invisible aligners. Treatment with Invisalign® is simple. Dr. Parrott will take bite impressions of your teeth and send these impressions to Invisalign® for processing along with detailed descriptions of the desired outcome. Using computer imaging, the Invisalign® company will make a set of clear, removable aligners; each successive aligner is designed to move your teeth towards the final goal.
During your next visit with Dr. Parrott, he will give you the first few sets of aligners and instruct you in proper care and maintenance. Each set of Invisalign® aligners is worn for approximately two weeks, during which your teeth adjust to their new locations.
Periodically, you will see Dr. Parrott so he can check on your progress and address any questions you might have. Average treatment time with Invisalign® is about a year – after you’ve worn the last set of aligners, you’ll be ready to show off your beautiful new smile. The best part is that no one has to know how you did it!

Periodontitis is caused by the buildup of bacteria and plaque at the base of the teeth. As the inflammation increases, the gum tissue begins to pull away from the tooth, forming a pocket that fosters further bacterial growth. Without treatment, the bones and gums deteriorate and the affected tooth loosens and falls out.
It is estimated that up to 80 percent of Americans will be diagnosed with some form of gum disease during their lifetimes. As with many other dental problems, gum disease can be halted and even reversed if diagnosed early enough. Most mild cases of gingivitis can be improved with diligent oral hygiene. For more severe cases of gingivitis and periodontitis, Dr. Parrott can treat gums with scaling and root planing.

Scaling describes the process of scraping tartar from the tooth’s surface, both above and below the gum line. Root planing is a similar process, but treats the tooth’s root, well inside the gum. As this can be an uncomfortable process, many patients elect to undergo IV sedation.

Since periodontitis often causes gums to recede, many patients feel that their teeth are unattractive because they appear to be “too long.” After controlling the periodontitis, Dr. Parrott can correct gum recession with skin grafts taken from the roof of the mouth. This procedure serves to augment the existing gum tissue, as well as to cover the over-exposed tooth.

Many people are anxious about visiting the dentist; sometimes this is due to a bad experience in the past, or it may be because they haven’t been to the dentist in several years and fear that a lot of work will be needed. Some people just don’t respond well to traditional pain-numbing techniques, such as Novocaine.
Because of the wide range of patients that can benefit from IV sedation, Dr. Parrott makes it an available option for nearly every procedure. If you and Dr. Parrott decide that several procedures will be necessary to achieve your dental goals, chances are good that you can combine two or more of them in one session with IV sedation.
Yes. IV sedation has been successfully used in dentistry since the 1960s. When you come into the office for your dental work, an anesthesiologist will begin an IV with medications that will relax your body. You will not be aware of the procedure, nor will you remember anything that happened to you. Unlike general anesthesia in a hospital, you will be able to breathe on your own. You will be closely monitored at all times and will never be left alone.
Thanks to modern dental technology, Dr. Parrott is able to correct just about any problem with minimal discomfort and inconvenience. If you’ve been looking for a dentist whose topmost priorities are your comfort and well-being, contact Dr. Parrott today for a consultation.
